An experimental mixed-media art project exploring the relationship between embroidery and antique Persian calligraphy papers. The work brings together contemporary embroidery and fragile historical papers, allowing the existing calligraphy, texture, age, and traces of time in each sheet to become integral elements of the composition.

Project Overview

This project explores the reinterpretation of antique Persian calligraphy papers through embroidery. Rather than treating the paper simply as a surface, I approached each sheet as an existing visual element with its own calligraphy, texture, age, and traces of time.

The embroidery was developed directly on the antique papers, creating a visual and material dialogue between the newly added stitches and the existing calligraphic elements.

Each piece was developed individually in response to the characteristics of the paper and the relationship between the existing calligraphy and the embroidered forms.

The resulting works explore how an existing historical material can be reinterpreted through a contemporary artistic intervention while preserving the visual character and traces of its original history.
