An upcycling project exploring how discarded denim can be transformed into new designed pieces through material experimentation, textile craft, and visual storytelling. Each piece was developed as an individual design, with the material’s texture, structure, colour, and existing characteristics informing the creative process.

Project Overview

This project explores how discarded denim can be reinterpreted through handmade design and textile craft. Rather than treating the material simply as waste, I explored its texture, structure, colour, and existing characteristics as starting points for creating new pieces.

The project combines material reuse with creative design and hands-on making, incorporating techniques such as embroidery, sewing, crochet, and beadwork. Each piece was developed individually, allowing the characteristics of the reclaimed material to influence its form, surface, and decorative elements.

The project also includes the styling, photography, and image editing of the finished pieces. This visual presentation was considered part of the creative process, allowing the objects to be documented and presented as individual designs rather than simply as handmade products.
